XLR8 - Post 16 & EOTAS

This programme offers a bespoke package of support to young people Post 16 and EOTAS with complex social and or learning needs.

The mixture of tutor based, experiential and hidden learning is aimed to

engage students and keep them both interested and motivated, both to learn

and to achieve their own potential. Increased staffing levels and a maximum of 6 young people per group ensures that the students are supported at every step, whatever their individual learning style.

The XLR8 programme provides the opportunity to gain:

• Personal, social, employability and independent living skills.
• An improvement in self-confidence and self-awareness
• An improved understanding of how to keep themselves safe from risks such as abuse, sexual exploitation, and extremism, this will include when using social media and the internet.

• An understanding of how to keep themselves healthy, both emotionally and physically

• Foundation level or GCSE’s in Maths, English and ICT will be established with an initial assessment. Additional virtual tutoring may also be offered if required.

• Informal education opportunities to meet individual needs and interests may include short courses in, First Aid, Basic Food Hygiene to name a few.

• The students will also have access to 1-1 support from an experienced mentor who will signpost them to any specialist services where required.

The programme supports young people in continuing to learn and develops vital skills by covering the benefits and importance of teamwork, overcoming barriers to work, career exploration and volunteering opportunities. With small groups attending the XLR8 programme, the staff offer a truly bespoke and individual package to meet the Young Person’s needs.
