MENTORING

Our mentoring services ignite potential through personalised guidance and transformative support, ensuring young people have the support required to achieve their goals.

What it does for them...

At home:

  • Enhanced self-esteem and self-confidence
  • Improved behaviour at home and in the community
  • Positive relationships with family and community
  • Improved interpersonal skills
  • Reduced aggression and anti-social acts
  • Improved mental health

At school:

  • Increased educational engagement
  • Increased attendance
  • Increased future aspirations for education and employment
  • Stronger relationships with adults and peers
  • Better academic progress
  • Improved school attendance
  • Positive attitudes towards school and learning

How we do it...

  • A typical session with Innovate is between 2 to 3 hours in length but can be longer.
  • The young person will be assigned a Youth Mentor, who will collect the young person either from home or school.
  • During sessions, mentors will spend time building a professional relationship and exploring desired outcomes for the young person.
  • The session may include physical, crafting, or social activities based on a plan created after the Home Visit, designed to gather information about the young person’s interests to maximize engagement.
  • When appropriate, the young person will have the chance to interact with peers, participate in a variety of activities, and complete tasks that lead to certification.
  • At the end of the session, the young person will then be returned to home or school.

What you will receive...

  • Session reports containing the following:
    • Attendance status for the session
    • Up to three objectives for staff to achieve and report back on
    • Learning outcomes during the session
  • Weekly bespoke schedules for the young person, including times, dates, events and assigned mentor name, so your young person will know who to expect.
  • Appropriate staff attendance at young people's professional meetings and reviews.
  • Collaboration with other provisions and services connected to the young person.
  • Alerts for consecutively missed sessions.
  • Assistance and support transitioning back into school or further education.
  • Termly YPP, Young Person’s Plan for the upcoming term.
